How to save yourself 1 day a week

Time is something we all wish we had more of, so let’s discuss the best ways to utilise it, stretch it and get the most out of it.

Preparing the night before can save you at least 1 hour a day

Getting ready the night before is the best possible way to ensure a positive start to the day. It means you are less likely to forget something and even if you do wake up late, at least you don’t have to spend ages looking for your keys, packing your lunch, or figuring out where the zoom link for your next meeting is!

Making legible notes can save you at least 30 minutes a day

Having your to-do list close to hand is a must, but if it’s indecipherable it’s as good as useless. Making electronic notes is the best practice, but if you prefer the tried and tested method of pen and paper, then make sure you write clear and concise notes.

Taking regular breaks can save you at least 30 minutes a day.

Taking regular 5-minute respites gives your brain time to recover. This short reset will increase your productivity overall.

Delegation can save you around 2 hours a day.

If your time is better spent on other tasks then delegate those simple administrative tasks out. Focus on those income-generating tasks and let your VA handle everything else!

Understanding your body clock can save you 2 hours a day

Knowing what type of tasks to do and when. This is the difference between completing a blog post in 30 minutes or several hours. If you are more creative in the morning, then then your blog writing will actually be quicker between 9 am and 10 am. If you learn to work in sync with your own needs you can ultimately get more done in less time.

Turning off your social media notifications can save you over 2 hours a day

We would highly recommend setting time limits in the social media applications themselves and deleting them from your home screen. We would go as far as to delete the application altogether so that in order to access your social media account, you need to log on to the web browser!

Saving time is a task in itself, even the truly disciplined fall victim to the occasional procrastination, according to The Guardian newspaper, the average person spends just over 3 hours a day on their phones! That is over three hours of scrolling totaling over 35 full days a year on our phones. Putting simple systems in place will allow you to remove distractions from physical to digital so that you can get more done with the time that you have.
