The big M… that’s right marketing.
Marketing has a level of time and energy consumption that rivals almost every other business activity. But do not despair, as it’s one of the simplest aspects of your business to delegate out! Your time and energy is priceless and should be spent elsewhere.
A common misconception of a small business owner is that they need to sit in all of the seats, wear all of the hats and do all of the work! Yes, it’s important to have an understanding of all aspects of your business but it’s more worthwhile to focus on your strengths, whilst delegating out the tasks you perform weakest in. A successful leader will hone in on tasks they excel at and accept the support of others when it comes to the rest.
And when it comes to marketing, we all know that consistency is key and performing a few actions on a daily/weekly basis is how you stay relevant. So is your VA helping you stay relevant? There are specialised marketing VA’s that will help you create a marketing strategy and implement it. But at the very least all VA’s have the capacity to provide admin support for your marketing tasks. So here is how you get started.
- Provide detailed instructions: as simple as the tasks may seem to you, always give your VA detailed instructions, rather than assuming your VA knows what you want
- Set clear goals: let your VA in on the goals and outcomes of these tasks, that way they can better understand your needs
- Provide a clear deadline: don’t forget to add the deadline and the milestones you have in place. If you put the time in at the beginning, it will certainly pay off in the long run
- Set up the systems: this is the most efficient and effective way to delegate, as strong foundations are at the core of every successful project. without a good foundation in place, prepare for stress, pain and many sleepless nights.
There is an abundance of applications out there that are marketing focused! My favourites, when it comes to ease of use, training and price are Buffer and of course Monday.com.
Buffer is a super-efficient way to save you time, all you have to do is add and authorise your social media account and then set up a month’s worth of posts
Monday.com does require a little more practice, but it’s a great tool for keeping track of leads, clients, your projects and much more. Monday.com offers a free trial but be warned once you try it you’ll be hooked.
Your VA is there to make your life easier, so don’t hold back, make sure your marketing is on brand and on fire!
